The countdown has started

Next Thursday, on 15th November, you’ll be able to vote for your first ever Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC). Those of us living in London are not included in this election as our Mayor is responsible.  The PCC will be responsible for the local policing and crime plan and will be setting the police budget and precept.  The PCC will also have the power to hire and fire the Chief Constable.  There are fears that disinterest, lack of knowledge about the elections and the weather could all see a lower than 20% turnout.  The Electoral Reform Society reckons that a low turnout could help the smaller political parties, so it’ll be dead interesting to see who gets in.

So, for the first time ever, politics is going to have a direct influence over policing and so can I strongly suggest you use your vote and encourage your friends and neighbours to do so also.  Don’t end up with the wrong type of person because not enough people voted.

The BBC have some useful stuff on their website at this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-19495787

You know it makes sense!
