Private detectives filling gaps left by police budget cuts

This is an interesting article from the Los Angeles Times concerning the increased business seen by US private detectives since budget cuts have been preventing the police from answering to all the needs of their communities.  I’ve posted the link here because it would be interesting to know whether the UK’s private security industry and private detectives have been experiencing the same increase in business.
