On 12 February I posted an article entitled Love Thy Neighbour As Crime Prevention Shop Opens In Stourport, which as the title suggests, was all about the local police taking over a empty shop for a few days to spread the crime prevention message.
Well, I’m pleased to report that their efforts have paid off handsomely. They had 350 visitors the shop, marked 75 peoples’ property and importantly got 20 enquiries from people wishing to volunteer their services to Neighbourhood Watch.
As well as the police, organisations taking part included the West Mercia Safer Roads , Wyre Forest Community Safety Partnership, Neighbourhood Watch, Wyre Forest District Council promoting recycling, Worcestershire Regulatory Services promoting trading standards and environmental health, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, Wyre Forest Community Housing’s neighbourhood wardens promoting security marking, and the NHS carrying out health checks.
There were also children’s colouring and poster design competitions, with prizes including tickets to the West Midland Safari Park and cinema vouchers.
So well done to the organisers for a thoroughly worthwhile event!
