I am particularly pleased to announce a new reciprocal link with (The London Borough of) Hillingdon Neighbourhood Watch, because that’s where I live!! Unforeseen and sad circumstances in the recent past put back the development of this overarching Watch for Hillingdon, but with secured funding from Hillingdon Council and the Hillingdon Division of the Metropolitan Police the organisation is now full steam ahead.
In the coming months Hillingdon NHW will be developing packages to help grow new and less evolved local watches and will continue to support existing schemes to enable co-ordinators to take their role to whatever level their enthusiasm takes them. Hillingdon NHW’s website is a simple holding page at the moment with links to their last four newsletters, but this is all due to change during the next few weeks and months.
One of the things that a well-supported Neighbourhood Watch can do is to make sure that current crime threats and crime prevention techniques to avoid them are brought to the attention of local people in a timely manner. They obviously need help to do this and Hillingdon NHW has put out a call for volunteers. Their website says this:
“We urgently need those of you born between 1945 and 1959 to step up to the plate to reinforce the generations of 1915 to 1929 (who have definitely done their bit but continue to do so) and the 1930 to 1944 generation (who are beginning to feel they need to start resting up and enjoy the smell of the roses more often)."
If you can help and or want to find out more (and I’m sure age is not a constraint!) please get in touch with them using the contact details below.
Good luck to all those involved and it’s great to know that The Crime Prevention Website is going to be there to help.
