Police in Bolton have been cracking down on thieves who target cars to steal sat-navs and other valuables. It seems that there’s been a spate of such thefts in Deane, Daubhill and Great Lever.
In response, PCSOs have been patrolling these hotspot areas giving out eye-caching yellow and red cards for motorists to display behind their windscreens. Each one tells the potential thief that nothing of value has been left in the car.
The thieves have been stealing virtually anything on view, including loose change, kept for the car park, and cigarettes and if the door hasn’t been left unlocked some of them have smashed the side window to get at the goods – an expensive bill for just a couple of quid in change.
