People in Hereford are being offered the chance to find out how they can protect their property from crime and get their hands on some discounted security products in the process.

On Sunday, 2 June, Hereford’s City Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will be inside Wickes on Widemarsh Street from 10am giving crime prevention advice.

The team has joined forces with the DIY store, who will also be offering a 20 per cent discount on certain items which could help protect people’s homes and gardens.

Sergeant Emma Freer has organised the event. She says: “This is a fabulous opportunity for local people to come along and learn how to protect their property with all of the information they need in one place.

“With the warmer weather approaching, we often see an increase in burglaries and garden crime, so it’s the time of year when residents need to start thinking about home security.

“This can include marking their possessions, tips on how to keep valuables as secure as possible both inside and outside their homes. This can be anything from a push-bike to a games console or jewellery.

“We are really pleased that Wickes have allowed us to set up inside their Hereford store this weekend and that they have put some special offers in place for this event.

TCPW Comment: Before you venture off down to Wickes why not carry out a Home Security Survey on this website to see what you need to be doing.

Go prepared with knowledge – you know it makes sense!
