We’re very pleased to announce a reciprocal link with The North Yorkshire Neighbourhood Watch Association (NY NHWA), which brings together members of the eight district NHW associations in the county of North Yorkshire.
The Eight Districts are: Craven; York; Hambleton North and Hambleton South; Harrogate; Ryedale; Scarborough; Selby and Richmondshire.
In September 2010 a Partnership Agreement was signed between North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Neighbourhood Watch Association and North Yorkshire Police Authority. This agreement sets out how the partners will work together to help prevent crime, reduce crime and the fear of crime.
The NY NHWA is currently in year two of its comprehensive three-year business plan, the progress of which can be followed in their Action Plan, which is published on their website.
Their aims are to:
- Support, encourage and promote all aspects of Neighbourhood Watch (NHW), whilst building an effective liaison between the police, statutory and voluntary organisations, other agencies and the public of North Yorkshire.
- Provide advice and services for and on behalf of all NHW and other legitimate Watch groups.
- Collect and disseminate information on all matters relating to NHW and exchange such information with other bodies having similar objectives.
They are always interested to hear from people across the county who would like to set up a new watch, help an existing one or find one to join and their website has all the contact information on it to enable you to do so.
The link back to The Crime Prevention Website can be found on their Home page and we’re very grateful to Chairman Steve Law for this opportunity to help the people of North Yorkshire prevent crime.
