Police in Worcester are appealing for information after a number of local businesses were burgled overnight.
Worcester & Midlands Cold Stores Ltd on Bromyard Road, The Coppertops Pub on Oldbury Road and DJB Denny vets on Henwick Road were all broken into in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, 21 August).
In particular, officers are keen to hear from anyone who has been offered or knows of someone who is selling a large quantity of frozen steak, believed to have been stolen in the burglary at the cold storage unit. A quantity of cash was taken from both the pub and the vets.
Detective Inspector Stu Murphy from Worcester CID said: “Three men have since been arrested in connection with the burglaries and are currently in custody, awaiting questioning.
“However, we are yet to recover the meat products stolen from Worcester & Midlands Cold Stores and we suspect they are probably in the process of being sold on to local residents.
“I would urge people to let us know if they are offered these products and also, to only trust meat bought from a legitimate business. That is the only way you can guarantee that it has been handled or stored properly to ensure it is safe to eat.
“We would also appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity around the targeted business premises to contact us.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 0300 333 3000 quoting reference 74S 210813or the anonymous charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
