The London Borough of Wandsworth’s Community Safety Team are holding a large conference this coming Thursday to discuss ways of protecting the elderly against, con-merchants, bogus officials, unscrupulous cold callers and all the types of thieves who target the most vulnerable amongst this group.
Those in attendance will include representatives of various charities, sheltered housing, doctors and NHS workers, Neighbourhood Watch, police, fire service staff, churches, academics and voluntary groups.
TCPW Comment This is an opportunity to see what people can do locally to reduce the targeting of the elderly and it is hoped that the findings of this conference will be published so we can all learn from this worthwhile event.
The event takes place on Thursday 10 October at Wandsworth Town Hall from 9.30am to 1pm
