A couple of weeks ago my wife and I popped down to Camden Market on the train for the day.  It’s a colourful and vibrant location and in spite of what you may have heard it’s a very safe place to be and is most certainly a must place to visit when in London.  I was there with my brother and his wife and my two sons and their fiancées and so we formed a pretty formidable group.

When you emerge from Camden Town Underground Station onto Camden High Street you turn right to make your way up to the markets, but the signs indicating the way to the market are just not big enough and so you find that visitors (mainly tourists) hang around just outside the exit trying to get their bearings.  This causes crowding at the exit, which are ideal conditions for pick-pockets to operate.  Fortunately these pests are not there all the time, so the risks of you having a bad experience are low.  However, whenever you’re in a crowd, no matter where you are, you should clearly be keeping your wits about you.

I’d thought about this on the way there and as I was going to be taking a few photos of the family thought it prudent to take some precautions with the camera. So I got my newly acquired myBunjee® and slipped it around my camera and clipped it onto my belt.  I reckoned that the device would put off any likely pick-pocket or snatch thief who might see me using the camera on the canal footbridge.

What I hadn’t counted on was its usefulness in preventing the camera landing in the canal as it slipped from my hands!   So I am immensely grateful to its inventor, Emma Jones, for inventing it and saving me from the inevitable total loss and the subsequent scolding and ribbing I would have got from the family.
