I’ve just spent a fantastic 3 weeks with Julia and friends on holiday with most of it touring Sri Lanka.  I didn’t get to meet Prince Charles while I was there, or the heads of the Commonwealth countries assembled for the big party, but at least they tidied the place up a bit and put out plenty of bunting and flags for my arrival.

It’s a beautiful place to visit, the people are incredibly friendly and helpful and the local food is very reasonably priced and of course excellently flavoured if somewhat spicy.  The weather was kind to us as well, only raining cats, dogs and chillies in the evenings and we saw more wildlife than I even knew existed.  I even managed to avoid most of the mosquitoes due to the application of masses of special jungle juice.  If you’ve ever thought of visiting Sri Lanka, hesitate no longer, but remember to take a jumper with you.  When you’re up in the hills where the tea grows (6,000 + feet) it can get down to just 6 degrees, which is why there was a log fire burning in the Tea Factory Hotel!

While I was away I regularly checked in with Ben to see how this website was doing, but also to make sure that my home security arrangements were okay.

Having a decent level of security for your home does give you piece of mind when you’re away for a long period and so if you’re planning to be on holiday during the forthcoming festive season can I suggest you take a look at the Holiday Security Checklist on this website now, so you’ve got plenty of time to make those security improvements that might be required.

I’ve now got to catch up on what’s been going on crime-wise in the UK during the past 3 weeks, which I see includes yet another report into policing, which I shall have to digest.  I bet is says put more Bobbies on the beat!

It was nice to be on holiday, but it’s great to be back.

Keep ‘em peeled!
