One of our oldest and the most active Partner websites, Bingham Neighbourhood Watch in Nottinghamshire, has recently published their December newsletter. You can read it at this link
Now I don’t normally mention the publication of NHW newsletters, because there are simply too many of them, but on this occasion I thought I would make an exception because the scheme’s Vice-Chairman, Bob Garland, was recently given an important award. Bob was the winner of this year’s Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s ‘Contribution to Community Safety Award’. The ceremony took place on 28 October at the Nottinghamshire Police Annual Awards ceremony at The Albert Hall, Nottingham.
Bob’s been involved with NHW for over 24 years and knowing just how much he does (I read the Bingham NHW newsletters and visit the website) we are delighted to have heard the news.
In my professional life I’ve always found that the volunteers in the many areas of community safety just do their thing for the satisfaction they get from helping people and never expect any recognition. Once in a while though a tiny number of these individuals get nominated for an award by their co-workers and co-volunteers and I have to say are often a little embarrassed by the fuss! So me and Ben from The Crime Prevention Website want to add to the fuss and offer our congratulations to Bob for the award he so rightly deserved – Well Done Bob!
