For those of you interested in preventing crime here’s a not-to-be-missed free seminar being held by the Designing out Crime Association (DOCA) at Central Saint Martins, Granary Building, 1 Granary Square, King’s Cross. London N1C 4AA. The all day event begins at 10:00 and is open to both members and non-members: There will be free teas and coffees and a buffet lunch.
As usual the subject areas are wide and varied:
A representative from the Association of Chief Police Officers will be talking about the future of crime prevention; Estee Lauder will be describing their stylish approach to crime prevention; You’ll learn how lighting effects can be used for both art and security; Oscar Newman’s Defensible Space theory will be revisited; The dubious nature of plant life in high security spaces will be discussed and we’ll be learning whether railings are keeping people in or keeping people out!
The event will close around 15:30
Sounds like a fascinating day – as usual!
Please email c.griffith@csm.arts.ac.uk to let them know you’re attending and for more information about DOCA and to join this excellent association please visit http://www.doca.org.uk/
I will definitely be there!
