We are very happy to inform you that Street Neighbourhood Watch Association (Somerset) has linked up with The Crime Prevention Website. I suspect that Street Neighbourhood Watch being described as ‘streets ahead’ is a bit old hat for them, because judging by their website they are quite clearly an active association that’s doing a lot for their local community.
The Street Neighbourhood Watch Association was formed in 2000 from the independent NW schemes operating in Street since early 1996. The association represents 864 households in 35 schemes, which is 25% of the households in Street.
As part of their aims to reduce crime, reduce the fear of crime and disseminate information, they operate an efficient cascade system of contacts between the local police neighbourhood teams, Avon & Somerset Police’s NW administration in Portishead and Bridgwater, local councils and commercial organisations and their members through area co-ordinators, scheme co-ordinators and members. They do this using email and telephone messages to give warnings of crime trends, possible crime related problems and future events or promotions in their area. Their contacts include all the local junior schools and Crispin school, where they have worked closely with their award winning School Watch, for which they have provided cycle marking kits, mobile phone marking and funding.
They also support other crime and safety related initiatives such as Community Watch, PACT, Local Action Teams and Road Safety for Children by sponsoring cycling proficiency at their local junior schools and fluorescent/reflective stickers and tags for children’s road safety on dark nights.
Clearly a very active Association and it’s great to have linked up!
If you live locally please go take a look at their website and if you can spare a little time to help out I’m sure they would be very pleased to hear from you.
