Police are urging residents in the Thetford area to remain vigilant following a suspected rogue trader incident.
The warning comes after workman cold called at an address in Whitepot Road at Methwold Hythe offering tarmac services.
The property owner agreed to have work carried out only for the workers to return later and demand more money that what was originally agreed.
It follows a similar incident yesterday in Great Dunham where workers demanded more money for tarmac work than previously agreed.
Police are urging residents and business owners to be on their guard should anyone cold call at their property.
Norfolk County Council's Trading Standards Officers request that residents never agree to have work done, or buy goods from someone that calls unannounced at their door, or approaches them on the street.
Often such traders don't provide full names, trading addresses or contact telephone numbers, resulting in it being virtually impossible to trace them if there are any problems with the work or goods - which is all too often the case.
Such traders often ask for cash up-front, and don't offer the entitled seven-day cancellation rights also.
To report incidents of suspicious activity call the non-emergency number 101.
