Just picked this story up off the Met’s news page and thought it very worthy of reproducing here.....

On Tuesday 21 January 2014, Police Constable Darren Reynolds was conducting some undercover patrols in the Caledonian area due to reports of Class A drug dealing.

Darren observed a woman acting suspiciously in the area.

A short time later a car driven by a man pulled up. The woman quickly approached the vehicle and got into the front passenger seat.

PC Reynolds witnessed a brief exchange taking place and, acting quickly, detained both the woman and the driver.

A wrap of heroin was found on the woman and she admitted she had just purchased the drugs from the man.

The man was searched and found in possession of a large quantity of cash, but no further drugs, he was arrested on suspicion of supplying. The woman was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance.

When the man was strip searched in custody a further 50 wraps of heroin, which he had been concealing, were found. He was later charged with possession with intent to supply and subsequently received a 28 month prison sentence.

A great piece of proactive work!

TCPW Comment: This type of police work is going on all the time around our country and rarely makes the news. And these types of collars don’t just happen either; they require a good measure of detective work, determination and patience and a dose of bravery thrown in too.  So well done indeed to Darren – nice job!
