In our first Newsletter issued last week we drew people’s attention to some of the results of our ongoing Home Security Survey.  One of these results concerned property marking.  In the survey we asked people if they had marked any of the property in their homes and it turns out that 64% of the survey respondents did. Whilst this is excellent news I don’t think this figure is typical of the population at large, because the majority of people who have completed the survey will be Neighbourhood Watch Members who are security aware.  However, I also made the point that this was a massive improvement on how things used to be back in the 1980s when Neighbourhood Watch had just begun, when only 5% had marked their property with the postcode (the old method so enthusiastically described in this old TV advert by Shaw Taylor of Police Five).

The fact that so many more people now mark their property (and get it back if recovered by the police) is a credit to the asset marking industry and their products, because they have made it so easy to mark things.

So, if you haven’t marked anything yet, do take a look at the Property Marking section on this website and the products being advertised.  All the property marking products advertised meet the standards approved by the police.

You know it makes sense!
