Please take a look at this really interesting initiative from Transforming Local Communities
This is an exciting new scheme that enables volunteers to support victims of anti-social behaviour. Each local scheme is run by a local management committee and purchases a licence which gives access to:
- Branding and marketing
- Policies and procedures
- Training modules
- Support in getting started
- On-going support and networking with other areas
Why Neighbourhood Champions (NC)?
NC provides communities:
- An opportunity to harness the care and support that individuals have for supporting victims of anti-social behaviour
- A structured scheme that ensures volunteers are properly recruited, trained and supported
- Recognition of their contribution by local agencies
NC provides organisations
- An untapped resource to support service delivery at these times of budget pressures
- On-going support for victims of ASB who need a lot of regular support whilst a case is being investigated and resolved
- A single point of contact for authorities who will assist in managing the expectations of the victims
- Another voice to challenge unreasonable expectations
What do you need to get started?
- Local people interested in supporting local communities
- Support from local Council/Police/Community Safety Partnership
