I have just picked up this article in the (on-line) Bucks Herald Newspaper about Aylesbury Town Centre being awarded a prestigious Purple Flag by the Association of Town Centre Management, which recognises the town as a welcoming and well-managed place to visit in the evening.
Interestingly the judges were particularly impressed with the crime prevention initiatives that were introduced last year, including Operation Angelic, which targets underage drinking, and street lighting improvements to remove the dark spots around town. What’s more, this is the second year in a row that Aylesbury have won the Purple Flag, so well done to them, the council and Thames Valley Police!
