Following extensive questioning by cross-party councillors from the four South Yorkshire boroughs at the meeting of the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Panel held on Monday, 28th January in Rotherham Town Hall, the appointment of Mrs Tracey Cheetham as Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for South Yorkshire was endorsed and confirmed.

She now takes up post alongside the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Shaun Wright.

Tracey is a Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Councillor and former constituency manager to Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis. She is acknowledged with having exceptional and publicly-acknowledged leadership abilities, relationship building and project management experience.

Commissioner Wright said: “I am delighted to confirm the appointment of Tracey Cheetham as my deputy. There can be no doubt that Tracey will add great value to the Office of the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner.”

Tracey Cheetham added: "I’m delighted to have been appointed to the post and look forward to working closely with Commissioner Wright and his team. It’s a new and challenging role and I am particularly pleased that the post offers me a great opportunity of being able to make a difference for the people of South Yorkshire.”
