In the ‘you couldn’t make it up’ news this week is this little tale about a guy from Madison County Illinois who has just been charged with stealing a quantity of home security equipment from his local Wal-Mart store.
Staff at Wal-Mart discovered the theft when they found empty packaging for a CCTV surveillance system and two wireless home security alarm systems. They identified the thief after they reviewed their in-store surveillance system and local police arrested him a week later, back at the store, probably in search of some extras he’d forgotten to take the first time.
It seems he stole the stuff because he was worried about someone breaking into his home and stealing his stuff - no doubt whilst out on his shoplifting trips!
Interestingly the man’s been charged with burglary, which may mean that he’d already been banned from Wal-Mart stores for previous thieving and was therefore entering the store as a trespasser – Nice!
