Another very worthwhile initiative from Herts Police......
Vulnerable people and premises in Ware are being given an additional helping hand as Operation Stomp was officially launched in the town on Wednesday July 31.
Operation Stomp is a new initiative aimed at identifying vulnerable people and then putting measures in place to prevent them from becoming victims of crime.
The Operation was launched in the town with the support of the Mayor and other partner agencies. Police officers and PCSOs from the Safer Neighbourhood Team will be joined by officers from Herts Fire and Rescue Service, Riversmead Housing Association and girls from Presdales School, who are on a citizenship week and have offered to help out.
The teams will be visiting residents in Grange Gardens, identifying issues and giving out crime prevention and home safety and security advice.
“Officers and volunteers will be armed with questionnaires that they will be filling in with residents,” explained Detective Sergeant Dave Greenhill. “They will be asking a series of questions to see whether they need access to any services, for example fire safety checks, how to secure their property or report a crime. Any areas of concern will then be logged and the appropriate measures put in place.”
Sergeant Dave Cooke of the Ware Safer Neighbourhood Team, added: “We want to ensure that the residents were armed with all the essential crime prevention tools they need to keep their property and belongings are secure.”
The teams will be offering crime prevention advice around securing their houses and sheds. They will also be encouraging residents to register their valuables on the free and secure online property register used by police to identify owners of stolen or lost items, Immobilise.com, and given a UV marker pen to mark up their property.
