At precisely the same time as SouthendWatch joined up with The Crime Prevention Website so did the county-wide Essex Neighbourhood Watch Association.  This Association represents the members and participants in the County of Essex and the unitary authorities in Southend and Thurrock. They work closely with their partners to provide support and a range of services to help the county’s watch groups.

Every year they organise the ‘Co-ordinator of the Year’ award.  Each of the fourteen districts across the Essex Police District proposes a Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator to be their District’s Co-ordinator of the Year. The winners each receive a certificate which is presented at an award ceremony held at Essex Police Headquarters. The scheme is supported by the Chief Constable and the Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex.

Clearly, Neighbourhood Watch is an important and highly regarded movement across the county of Essex and deserves all the support it can muster from the local population.  Neighbourhood Watch exists to help the police by just keeping an eye out for our neighbours, passing on messages from the police, taking sensible precautions to reduce our risk of becoming victims of crime and offering to help a neighbour when the need arises.

If you’d like to volunteer to help out please go to their links page to find the Association nearest you.
