We are delighted indeed to have linked up with the very comprehensive website of Rushmoor Neighbourhood Watch Association (RNWA)

RNWA is a joint collaboration between the Police, Rushmoor Borough Council (Safer Rushmoor) and the residents of Rushmoor, to monitor and help reduce crime in the community.

The Association actively help the police prevent, detect and resolve crime and alerts the various community services about matters such as anti-social behaviour and other problems including broken street lights and footpath deterioration.  Members also keep an eye out for suspicious behaviour and report unusual incidents to the police.

RNWA is based on the Police Beat Areas of Aldershot and Farnborough (Hampshire Constabulary). These Beats roughly match the Council Wards. Usually one or two people from a road or street will act as coordinators for that community. The coordinators will generally provide a communications channel between the community, the council and the police. This still means that members of that community should continue to deal with these agencies as they need, but the co-ordinators are able to provide advanced warning of any problems that are detected and of course, it works the other way: The coordinators meet the agencies on a regular basis, to discuss any issues in the Rushmoor Neighbourhood Watch area and to report any persistent problems. These meetings are convened by a chairman elected from the ranks of the coordinators.

Communication is at the heart of Neighbourhood Watch. In general the residents live in a low crime area, so there is not usually much going on. During these times they can get along with the occasional meeting of fellow coordinators and the leafleting of the community, but email is now playing such a big part in their lives that they are using this to do multi mailings to their communities. On occasions when it is necessary to get information out quickly they use a coordinators ring-round scheme.

If you would like details on the scheme, please visit their website at this link:   http://www.rnwa.org.uk/
