Harlow Neighbourhood Watch (HNW) in Essex, like other Neighbourhood Watch schemes in the country, aims to harness the willingness of local people to act as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the community. This activity helps the police and other official bodies to minimise crime and anti-social activity.
It’s always interesting and encouraging to find out about the activities of the various Neighbourhood and Home Watch groups around the country and HNW stands out as a Watch which actively supports the younger people in their area. The Watch actively encourages young people into sporting activities and set up the Harlow Baseball Project which supports the Harlow Greensox Baseball Club, specifically aimed at encouraging boys and girls to take up baseball.
You can register your interest to become a volunteer member of Harlow Neighbourhood Watch by using the registration form on their site. They will assist you in a number of ways to become the eyes and ears of your local neighbourhood by helping you build a team of volunteers in your area. They have a number of resources within HNW to draw on and they have the full support of the local Community Policing teams across the town.
We’re really pleased to have made the link with HNW and we hope that those of you who live in Harlow will think about helping them out.
