The on-line Daily Star has reported that shops will be stopped from selling alcohol below cost price from April 6 this year.
The Home Office hopes this move will reduce violence and injuries caused by youngsters drinking cheap drink at home (pre-loading) before going out with their mates to drink even more.
They also think that the ban could save the National Health Service £5.3million a year, cut law and order costs by £3.6m and reduce work absenteeism, estimated to cost another half million pounds.
