Thanks to Gary Cordner of 'Modern Policing' for bringing my attention to the following:
Consumer Reports estimates 3.1 million smartphone thefts in the U.S. in 2013, nearly twice the number in 2012, according to an article in the Washington Post.
Earlier this week an agreement was reported among major cell phone manufacturers and carriers to implement "kill switches"; devices that would render stolen phones inoperable, by 2015.
