Cumbria Crime Prevention officers will be out in force at the Home and Garden show in Whitehaven on the 16th and 17th May 2014.
Visitors will be able to enjoy demonstrations in cooking and gardening to learn some tips of the trade. Whilst there they can also pick up some tricks to ensure their property is safe and secure.
Terry O’Connell, who will be there during the event, said: “It is fundamental that people recognise that leaving any part of their home insecure, is an open invitation to thieves.
“Crime prevention is key to ensuring that our communities are well protected. We will be on hand to offer advice and recommendations to anyone wanting to improve their home security. From shed alarms to marking your bike, we can offer some practical tips. Key is to remember to lock up and with warming evenings, people are starting to be outside in the garden. However, just remember to lock that front door, it only takes seconds for some to walk in uninvited.
“We want people to come and speak to us, we will have plenty of useful information for security across all aspects of the home and garden.”
